About the event

ree

The Boxser Diversity Initiative (BDI), in partnership with the Florida Holocaust Museum, was proud to present two free public events featuring Jennifer Teege, author of My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me: A Black Woman Discovers Her Family’s Nazi Past. On March 22 at The Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg and March 23 at Temple Beth Sholom in Sarasota, Teege shared her extraordinary journey of uncovering her connection to Nazi war criminal Amon Göth.

With candor and compassion, Teege spoke about identity, history, and the power of confronting painful truths, sparking deep reflection among attendees. The programs were made possible with support from Florida Humanities and the Manatee and St. Petersburg branches of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH). These conversations advanced BDI’s mission of fostering understanding, empathy, and dialogue across cultures and generations.
