Queen Meccasia Zabriskie, PhD

Queen Meccasia Zabriskie serves as an Advisory Board Member ot the Boxser Diversity Initiative. 

About Dr. Zabriskie

Dr. Queen Meccasia Zabriskie is a Professor of Sociology and Performance Studies and the Director of the Coretta Scott King Center at Antioch College.

 

Previously, she served as Professor of Sociology and Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at New College of Florida, where she held the MacArthur Endowed Professorship Chair. Zabriskie earned her MA and PhD in Sociology from Northwestern University and her BA in Economics and African and African American Studies from Duke University.

 

Her research focuses on race, class, and gender; intersectionality; social inequality; Black feminist thought; and cultural politics in the African Diaspora. She co-authored Black Theater is Black Life: An Oral History of Chicago Theater and Dance, 1970-2010, and received the 2020 Sarasota Magazine Unity Award.
